Secure Shapley Value for Cross-Silo Federated Learning

نویسندگان

چکیده

The Shapley value (SV) is a fair and principled metric for contribution evaluation in cross-silo federated learning (cross-silo FL), wherein organizations, i.e., clients, collaboratively train prediction models with the coordination of parameter server. However, existing SV calculation methods FL assume that server can access raw public test data. This may not be valid assumption practice considering emerging privacy attacks on fact data might clients' private assets. Hence, we investigate problem secure FL. We first propose HESV , one-server solution based solely homomorphic encryption (HE) protection, which has limitations efficiency. To overcome these limitations, SecSV an efficient two-server protocol following novel features. First, utilizes hybrid protection scheme to avoid ciphertext-ciphertext multiplications between models, are extremely expensive under HE. Second, matrix multiplication method proposed SecSV. Third, strategically identifies skips some samples without significantly affecting accuracy. Our experiments demonstrate 7.2--36.6× as fast HESV, limited loss accuracy calculated SVs.

Practical Secure Aggregation for Federated Learning on User-Held Data

Secure Aggregation protocols allow a collection of mutually distrust parties, each holding a private value, to collaboratively compute the sum of those values without revealing the values themselves. We consider training a deep neural network in the Federated Learning model, using distributed stochastic gradient descent across user-held training data on mobile devices, wherein Secure Aggregatio...

Shapley value for assignment games ∗

We consider the problem of the axiomatization of the Shapley value on the class of assignment games. We show that Shapley’s original [21], Young’s [24], Chun’s [7], van den Brink’s [2], (5-6) Hart and Mas-Colell’s [12] potential function and consistency approaches and Roth’s [19] characterization do not work on the class of assignment games. We also consider Myerson’s [15] axiomatization of the...

The Shapley group value

Following the original interpretation of the Shapley value (Shapley, 1953a) as a priori evaluation of the prospects of a player in a multi-person interaction situation, we propose a group value, which we call the Shapley group value, as a priori evaluation of the prospects of a group of players in a coalitional game when acting as a unit. We study its properties and we give an axiomatic charact...
